breathing mask

I should really call this, ‘breathing equipment,’ because the face mask is attached by a bendy tube to an air cylinder on your back.  The mask fits over your nose and mouth, to supply air in places where there’s air, but you can’t breathe it.  If there’s no air, you must use a space suit or a bubble.

We practised using breathing masks during our training.  We went out of Federation headquarters, onto the surface of Yband 4, which has no oxygen in its air.  See Report 3.
