control column

This is like a square grey stick, about a metre long.  One end fits into a socket at the front of a tractor.  The other end has a handle.  You use the control column to drive the tractor.  Control columns are also used in scooters and pegasuses.  They’re sometimes called control sticks.

Under the handle, the control column has a big round hole.  If you put a control unit in that, it will drive the tractor for you.

During our training, I practised driving a tractor, using a control column.  I was nervous, but I didn’t hit anything.

I used a control column in a scooter and a pegasus during my visit to the Zejets works on Obegon 4.  See Report H.
