19: TONY: Why do you call Bea, ‘Bean’?

I’ve called her ‘Bean’ as long as I can remember. I wouldn’t’ve known why, but Mum told me. When Bea was a baby, I was just learning to talk. The Bean’s parents call her Beatrice: her dad insists on that. When I tried to say it, I got so muddled that they tried to teach me ‘Bea’ instead, but I kept saying ‘Bean’. Our parents thought that was cute, so they encouraged it. As we got older, it didn’t seem to bother her, so I just kept doing it.

When we first became Federation agents, I never thought of changing. But she told me it embarrasses her, especially in front of high-ranking agents and planet leaders, so I’ve tried to change, but it’s hard to break a habit of eleven years.
